A 32-year-old man was arrested on July 3 for allegedly molesting a woman near a metro station in Sakinaka. According to police officials, the incident took place on July 2 at 6:00 pm when the woman was traveling in a metro train when the accused approached her from behind and touched her inappropriately.

"As the accused fled the spot, the woman reached the police station and a case was registered under Section 354 (molestation of woman) of the Indian Penal Code," an official said.


The Andheri police formed two special teams to trace the suspect and after that the police started examining the CCTV footage.

"After checking the footage of around 60 cameras covering the spot, we managed to identify the suspect Sharad Nair," said an officer, adding, "The suspect was staying in a hostel at Sakinaka, after which he was traced and arrested on Monday."


Police said the accused was planning to flee to Kerala but was caught by the police before he could leave. Nair has been arrested after confessing to the crime.
