Mumbai Customs, DRI destroys 32 kgs of Drugs worth INR 265 Cr

These drugs have been seized by various agencies like Postal Appraisal Section (PAS), Special Investigation and Intelligence Branch (SIIB) and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).

A High-Level Drug Destruction Committee of CBIC, comprising senior officials from DRI, Mumbai Customs on March 19, 2024, destroyed 31.948 kgs of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS), such as Heroin, Cocaine, Marijuana etc. valued at about INR 265 Crores (in terms of their value in the illicit market) by way of incineration held at Common Hazardous Waste Treatment Storage & Disposal Facility (CHWTSDF), MWML, Taloja, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.

This is the third such destruction in this financial year, the first being on July 19, 2023, of 128.47 kgs of drugs valued at 865 crore rupees and second on December 13, 2023, of 54.85 kgs of drugs valued at INR 410 crore in the illicit market. Thus, in this financial year total 215.268  kgs of drug valued at INR 1540 crore is destroyed.

These drugs have been seized by various agencies like Postal Appraisal Section (PAS), Special Investigation and Intelligence Branch (SIIB) and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). Mumbai Customs is committed to ensure strict law enforcement against illicit trafficking of NDPS substances to secure our citizens a safe and healthy life.
