According to the latest reports, a man (31) was sentenced to death on Friday, June 3 by a special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court for sexually assaulting and killing a nine-year-old in Nehru Nagar in Mumbai back in 2019.

Based on accounts, this is the man's second conviction with him being earlier sentenced to seven years imprisonment for sexually abusing another minor. But, his jail term was curtailed and he was released 11 months before he committed the second offence.

It has been reported that the accused allegedly killed the girl (9) at the same location he had assaulted her. Following this night, he is claimed to have dumped her body in the septic tank of a public toilet.

Narratives suggest that while giving the verdict, the court believed that the accused should not be permitted to live in society since once released he could repeat the same offence.

In addition to this, the court also refrained from granting the accused leniency by proclaiming that a man like him who abused minor girls one after another did not deserve it.

Back in 2019, in the sexual assault and murder, the girl had gone missing and her body was found two days later in a public toilet. Later, the accused was tracked down and nabbed with a case under the POCSO Act as well as sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) were lodged against him.
