Mumbai Police has busted a gang that used to steal and sell children of street vendors' families. In this case, Mumbai Police has arrested 6 accused from Malvani, Govandi and Nashik areas. Mumbai's Kurar Police took major action as it is suspected that the child-kidnapping gang is part of a big trafficking gang.


Police investigation revealed that this gang had started selling children to childless citizens. The gang used to charge INR 1.5 to 2 lakh from buyers for a one and a half year old child. The accused arrested by the police include Irfan Furkhan Khan, (26 years) Salahudit Noor Mohammad Syed, (23 years) Adil Shaikh Khan, (19 years) Taufir Iqbal Syed (26 years), Raza Aslam Shaikh (25 years) and Sadhan Jagtap.

At present, Kurar police is investigating all these accused further in connection with the incident. They are investigating whether these accused have stolen children before also. According to the police, a Vaghari family, who had come to Mumbai to feed themselves during Ganeshotsav, took shelter in a night shelter on the Times of India flyover in Kandivali East.


Like everyday, the family slept under the bridge on the night of 26 September. At that time it was revealed that a two year old girl had been kidnapped by an unknown thief. Jaisingh Vanauram Bagaria lodged a complaint at Kurar police station, after which the police registered a case of kidnapping.


Earlier, all the accused arrested in the case were sent to police custody till October 10. However, now all those accused are in judicial custody. Kurar police is further investigating the matter.
