The incident that led to Pravin's arrest occurred in 2007. During that time, he was a cloth salesman. He had deceived both the shop owner and the police by saying that the money he was supposed to collect was stolen. Later, the police learned that Pravin had kept the cash on hand.

After the search investigation was restarted, the police were able to find Pravin's hiding place in the Sabhrai village of Kutch. To apprehend him, the police posed as LIC agents and called Pravin to Mumbai. Upon confirmation, he was arrested and interrogated, leading the police to discover that he was hiding in Sabhrai village.

After questioning the accused's previous associates, the police finally detained Pravin in Mumbai.
