A 30-year-old truck helper died after a metal beam fell on him from an under-construction building in Marol on Wednesday morning. The victim has been identified as Amar Anand Pagare, also known as Bala.

According to MIDC police, construction work was going on at the site, and cement blocks had been brought from Nashik. Truck driver Anil Kachru Konkane and his helper Amar arrived with the materials. Around 11 a.m., the driver was resting in the truck while Amar got down as the unloading was happening.

At that time, an iron beam fell from the seventh floor and hit Amar on the head. He was seriously injured, and workers immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police have registered a case of death due to negligence against those responsible at the construction site. Deputy Commissioner of Police Datta Nalawade (Zone 10) said there were no proper safety measures in place. The site’s supervisor and manager have been called in for questioning.

This comes just weeks after another similar accident on October 9, when 22-year-old Sanskruti Amin, an RBL Bank employee, died after a cement block fell on her from the Shivkunj construction site in Jogeshwari (East). In that case, police had also registered a case against the construction worker, manager, and supervisor.
