It has come to light that a person committed suicide by tying a rope to a tree in a park in Koparkhairane area of Navi Mumbai. A person coming for morning walk saw the hanging body and informed the police about it.
Shantidut Mahaveer Udyan is located at Koparkhairane Sector 23. Hundreds of people visit the park every day, except during monsoons, for morning walks and exercise using the park's open gym. This morning some people came to the park early as usual. Arrangements have been made for walking around in the park and at this place a person was seen hanging from a tree. As soon as he informed the police about this, the police reached the spot.
They removed the body with the help of the fire brigade. From the documents found near the dead body, his name was found to be Pawan Kumar. He is a resident of Koparkhairane Sector 19. The incident is believed to have taken place sometime during the night. Further investigation is underway. This information was given by the present policeman.
There are two small and one big parks in this area. All the parks have open gyms and children's toys installed in all the places as people come in large numbers to exercise and walk in the morning and evening. During the day there are security guards in all the parks, but at night there is a single security guard patrolling all the three parks. Residents have complained that youngsters host parties in two small parks during night time. Following the suicide case, residents are hoping that the security guards will be increased.
