The Mumbai division of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a recent activity launched an operation to seize the smuggling of charas and as per reports, the officials on Friday, June 10, 2022, seized approximately 4.8kg of charas. Details regarding the same were published in the Indian Express.

It is being said that the department has arrested two men with regards to the same, and they have been taken into custody on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Additional information shared by the concerned body reveals that the 4.88kg charas seized was being taken to Australia, however, an official found the same concealed in a special cavity of a water purifier.

An investigation was conducted regarding the same as a follow up action by the NCB, post which the two persons were nabbed. It is being said that officials during the interrogation found out that the owner was sending the the parcel without verifying the identity of the opposite entity. Reports revealed that similar shipments were sent in the past and also that the owner of the courier franchise was being involved in drug trafficking as well.

Necessary actions and investigation continue in this matter.

Besides this, the Mumbai division of the NCB, in the past had also seized Methamphetamine and Amphetamine, in two different cases on Friday and Saturday, i.e., June 10 and 11, 2022. Officials had arrested one person who is said to have had a connection with the operation.

In one of the cases a contraband was being said to New Zealand and the officials found the same to be concealed in voltameters while in another consignment, the same was being sent hidden in Nut Bolts and was being shipped to Australia. Both the packages were being sent by the same person who has been arrested from Navi Mumbai.
