Within 48 hours of registering a case, the Panvel city police clamped down the murder case of a 60-year-old, Balaram Patil who resides in Panvel’s Belavali village. Nanda Thakur a 42-year-old and her accomplice Mangesh Khetri were arrested. Reports claim that Thakur had an alleged relationship with Patil.

Patil is said to have had a mandap decoration business. On August 13, Patil was found at Thakur’s home in Panvel’s Owale village, strangled with a dupatta.

According to reports, Ajay Landge, senior police inspector said that on Sunday, Thakur was arrested upon her return from Buldhana. She arrived from a bus at Kalamboli on the Sion-Panvel highway. She revealed the name of her aid whose assistance with the crime was committed.

On August 13 afternoon, Patil came to Thakur’s house, she then called Khetri and they planned to steal Patil’s gold possessions. They then filled chilli powder in his mouth and nose. After strangulating him with a dupatta, they locked the house and ran, said the officer.

It was on Friday night that Patil’s son lodged a missing person complaint that the crime was reported said Sanjay Joshi Inspector (crime). Thakur’s son told the police that she fled home without apprising anyone. When the police reached her house and broke it open, Patil was found dead with a dupatta around his neck.

Landge, based on the report, further elaborated that the detection team sought the assistance of technical experts, which helped them uncover her escape to Buldhana. On Sunday, when she got down from the bus, the team arrested her. 17 tolas were recovered from her, stated the official, cite reports.
