A thief attacked a doctor couple on a Nanded special train and tried to rob them. During the scuffle, the doctor couple fell off the train and were seriously injured. In this, Dr. Yogesh Deshmukh's left hand was broken. This is the second incident in the last four days of passengers being robbed at gunpoint on a moving train. Dr. Yogesh Deshmukh (50) and Dr. Deepali Deshmukh (44) are a couple living in Panvel.
Deshmukh owns Sadguru Kripa Ayurveda Hospital in Kamothe, Panvel. The Deshmukh couple, along with their 9-year-old daughter Shraddha, had left for Nanded on Wednesday to visit relatives. They caught the midnight 1 LTT – Nanded special train from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Kurla Terminus). The three of them boarded the S-4 coach. Deepali Deshmukh was sleeping on the middle seat. Her husband Yogesh was sleeping on the upper seat and her daughter Shraddha was sleeping on the front seat. In the middle of the night, a stranger entered the train.
Around 3.30 am, he tried to snatch Dr. Deepali Deshmukh's purse from her hand. Deepali resisted him. During this tug-of-war, the stranger pulled her down from the train and she fell down. Seeing the commotion, Dr. Yogesh got up, but when he saw his wife Deepali falling down, he jumped down from the train. In the process, his left arm broke and fell down.
