Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed at his residence on January 16 midnight. For three days many police teams were trying to nab the accused. Finally, Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad (30) alias Vijay Das was arrested on Sunday morning (January 19). Information is emerging that the accused does not have any valid Indian document in India. He is also suspected to have illegally entered India from Bangladesh. Meanwhile, after the accused was produced in the court, another confusion was seen in the Bandra Sessions Court. Two lawyers clashed to defend the accused. Finally, the court had to mediate the dispute.


According to a PTI report, after the court produced the accused Shariful Islam Shahzad in court on Sunday, does he have any complaint against the police? Such a question was asked. This time he replied in the negative. He was then asked to stand on the seat reserved for the accused.


After the hearing started, a lawyer came forward to represent Shahzad. After this lawyer came forward to get the accused's signature on the affidavit, another lawyer claimed to be representing the accused. He also rushed to get the signature on the power of attorney. At the place where the accused was standing, there was a jostle between two lawyers to get the power of attorney signed.This caused the commotion in the court. 


Meanwhile, the court intervened in this confusion. The Magistrate of the Sessions Court advised both the lawyers to jointly present the defense of the accused. Both the lawyers accepted this advice of the magistrate and the hearing began.


What did the accused's lawyer say?

After the hearing in the court, the lawyer of the accused while interacting with the media said, “The court has ordered us to submit the report within five days. The accused Mohammad Shehzad has been sent to police custody for 5 days. Also, it is not yet proved that the accused is a Bangladeshi. Also there is no international connection in this case. Accused Shehzad has been living in Mumbai for more than seven years. However, Mohammad Shehzad used to live in Bangladesh. Now he is living in Mumbai. There does not seem to be any international issue in this whole case.”


100 police were deployed to nab the accused

As many as 100 policemen were working to arrest the accused. After the attack on Saif, various teams of Mumbai Police and Crime Branch were formed. The accused was arrested from the Kasaravadvali police station in Thane on Sunday morning. There, the accused was hiding in a bush at Hiranandani Estate. Finally he was detained and brought to Bandra. He was initially kept in Chembur Police Station and later in Khar Police Station. 


Meanwhile, the accused Shahzad is found to be a Bangladeshi infiltrator. He came to Mumbai from Bangladesh. Sources said that the crime branch interrogated the two who lived with him in Mumbai on Saturday. The accused was working in a housekeeping agency in Mumbai. As the accused does not have any official documents, the sections under the Passport Act and the Foreign Nationals Act have been extended against him. The accused was previously working in a hotel in Thane.
