Security guards beat up Mumbai photojournalists

Masjid – MRA Marg police have filed a police complaint against the security guard under sections 141,143,147, 149, 323, 325, 427 of IPC and 135 section of Mumbai Police act. On Friday noon, several photojournalists such as Mid Day’s Atul Kamble, HT’s Arjit Sen and TOI’s S L Santkumar were brutally beaten outside Bombay House, headquarters of Tata group. They assembled there as news of Tata group’s sacked chairman Cyrus Mistry's visiting Bombay House was doing rounds. But they were beaten up by the security guards. The mobile video of this beating has gone viral. Injured photographers have been taken to St. George's hospital. “We got to know that Cyrus Mistry was going to come by 2.30pm but they came around 2.20pm and so we all tried clicking his pictures. Suddenly, his bodyguards started beating us”, said Mid Day photo journalist Atul Kamble. The reason for the beating is still not known. Mumbai Police Commissioner Dutta Padsalgikar has ordered an investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, Tata group has apologized for the beatings which took place.
