A 29-year-old man was murdered over a petty argument for unclean tissues used at a dhaba in Mulund, said the officials on Wednesday.

In connection to this, the police have arrested three people, including two waiters, of “Baba ka Dhaba”. Initially, Ram Gupta (44), Dilip Bharti (21) and Firoz Mohammad Khan (28), who worked at the eatery, were booked for murder attempt. However, after the death of the victim, identified as Navnath Pavne, police invoked murder sections in the case.

According to the reports, the deceased complained about unclean tissue papers. This resulted in an argument between him and the waiter.

As per Navghar police in Mulund (East), where the incident took place, Pavne, along with his friend Mahesh Mutte, went to Baba Dhaba located near Octroi Naka on November 9. When Pavne asked for a tissue paper, the waiter gave him a set of tissue papers tied to a string. Pavne shouted at the waiter for not keeping the tissues in the box, which led to tiff. The waiter then allegedly hit him on the head with a tile lying nearby. The arguments snowballed and other two staffers started hitting Pavne.

While Pavne did not bleed, he sustained internal injuries and collapsed on the spot. He was rushed to the hospital. When his condition did not improve over the next few days, he was moved to Sion hospital. On Sunday night, he passed away due to internal injuries, said police.

After the man’s father filed a formal complaint, a murder case was registered and the suspects were arrested, said an official.
