Five and a half tolas of gold have been stolen from a woman living in Palghar by female thieves. A case has been registered in Chitalsar police station in this regard.

The state government has given concessions to women and senior citizens while travelling in State Transport Service (ST) buses. Due to this, the proportion of women and elderly travelling in ST trains has increased. A 69-year-old woman lives in Vikramgad in Palghar. A few days ago, she was travelling by bus to visit her relatives in Thane. She kept gold ornaments worth five and a half tolas in her purse. When the ST reached Bhiwandi, it suffered a technical failure. So the conductor in the bus made the old woman sit in another ST going towards Thane.

When the bus went some distance, three women boarded the bus. A small child was with them. A woman sat next to the old woman. Another woman sat on the steps of the bus. The third woman stood behind the old woman. A standing woman handed a bottle full of water to the old woman. She asked to pour the water from that bottle into another bottle. After a while, the woman sitting on the stairs gave the old woman a bag. Asked her to remove the biscuit from that bag.

This made the old woman angry. She threw away the bag of biscuits and scolded them for making her work. After the bus arrived at Majiwada in Thane, the old woman got down from the bus and went to her relatives' house. On reaching home, when she opened the purse, no jewellery was found in it. Suspecting that the women had done this, the old woman filed a complaint in the Chitalsar police station. According to this complaint, a case has been registered.
