Baba Siddiqui, the chief leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar) in Mumbai, was shot dead by three assailants at night on October 12 in Mumbai. Police have so far arrested four accused in this case and Lawrence Bishnoi gang has accepted the responsibility of this murder. The Bishnoi gang is constantly threatening artists and leaders residing in Mumbai. He had opened fire outside actor Salman Khan's house. So Mumbai Police want to investigate Lawrence Bishnoi. However, the Mumbai Police did not get his custody to interrogate him. Mumbai Police made a lot of efforts for that. However, they did not succeed.
Why can't Mumbai police investigate Lawrence Bishnoi? Many people have this question. The Mumbai Crime Branch has so far demanded the custody of Lawrence Bishnoi several times. He had filed a petition in the court many times in this regard. But, so far Mumbai Police has not got his custody even once.
An order issued by the Home Ministry under Section 268 of the CrPC has become a major obstacle in the way for the Mumbai Police to obtain the custody of Lawrence Bishnoi. Because of this, Lawrence Bishnoi cannot be allowed to be transferred from Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat to any other place. This order of the Ministry of Home Affairs was initially applicable (in effect) till August 2024. However, India Today quoting sources said that the limit of this order has been extended. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police is currently on the trail of other goons from Lawrence Bishnoi's gang.
On October 12, 48 hours after Baba Siddiqui's murder, a social media account named Shubu Lonkar posted that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the murder. After this the police arrested Lonkar. The credibility of this post has not yet been checked.
