According to reports, on Saturday, January 16, former CEO of the rating agency BARC, Partho Dasgupta, who was earlier arrested in the alleged fake TRP scam case, has been admitted in the ICU of state-run JJ hospital in central Mumbai.

Partho Dasgupta, a diabetic, was rushed to the hospital from the Taloja Central Prison in Navi Mumbai in the early hours of Saturday after his blood sugar levels went up the previous day. Moreover, he is reportedly admitted to the ICU of JJ hospital and is on oxygen support due to ill health conditions.

This development comes days after WhatsApp conversations between the Republic TV Chief Editor Arnab Goswami and the former CEO of the viewership rating agency Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) Partho Dasgupta got leaked into the public domain leading to further conjecture around the entire case.

Meanwhile, earlier on December 13, 2020, the crime branch of Mumbai Police arrested Republic TV CEO Vikas Khanchandani in connection with the fake TRP scam case. Kanchandani is the thirteenth person to be arrested in the case after Arnab Goswami and Ghanshyam Singh.

The channel’s distribution head, Ghanshyam Singh, was granted bail in the same case a week earlier. Khanchandani was earlier summoned by the crime branch for questioning in the month of October. He was reportedly arrested from his residence. As per reports, Vikas Khanchandani was allegedly a part of Republic TV's internal WhatsApp group where discussions about LCN (Landing Channel Number) and Promotion LCN took place.
