Chembur - On the occasion of Christmas and New year quite a few gangs get active selling texture drinks (Adulterated liquor), filling them in empty bottles of expensive liquor. State excise department of Maharashtra is keeping a hawk's eye on these gangs.
These gangs procure empty bottles off expensive liquour from ragpickers, hotels and scrapdealers and after cleaning them thouroughly, they fill these bootles up with texture drinks. After this, they sell these bottles at a high price, all over from Rs 1000 to Rs 15000 depending on the brand. Officers of excise department have appealed to people to buy liquor only from authorised shops. State excise department has also formed flying squads to make surprise checks all over the city. These squads will check vehicles. Informers are also active to nab these texture drink sellers, said an officer from excise dept.
