Mumbai: Man allegedly molests a woman at local railway station; Nabbed by police

A case has been registered against a man for allegedly molesting a woman at Vidyavihar railway station. The case was registered on September 4 at the Kurla railway police station under sections 354 (assault with intent to outrage the modesty of a woman) and 509 (intent to outrage the modesty of a woman). The accused has been identified as Irfan Janam Allauddin Siddiqui.

According to the police, the 27-year-old female lawyer took a local train from Ghatkopar on September 4 and reached Vidyavihar at 9:23 pm. While she was climbing the stairs, the accused who was coming down the stairs came in front of the woman, looked at her and held her hand. She immediately raised an alarm and alerted the police patrolling the platform. The police took immediate action and caught the accused.


The woman then visited Kurla Railway Police Station to lodge a case of molestation against the persons. Subsequently, the accused was produced in the court and has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
