The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to start CBSE board in 10 more schools. The civic body had started the CBSE Board on an experimental basis at Poonam Nagar School in Jogeshwari in Mumbai. This school was highly preferred by the parents. Therefore, CBSE board will be started in 10 more BMC schools. These schools will have a detachment of each class from Junior KG, Senior KG 1st to 6th.

These classes will begin from the academic year 2021-22. Every parent is enrolling their child in English medium school to survive in today’s world and for their bright future. Therefore, considering the declining number of students in other mediums, the municipality had started CBSE and ICSE board schools on an experimental basis last year.

The facilities provided to the students of Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada schools in the municipal schools are also being provided to the students of the CBSE board. It is noteworthy that 27 items donated by the municipality are also being given to these students. Therefore, even students from economically weaker sections can afford education in CBSE board.

As there is a growing trend towards the CBSE Board and a proposal to start more schools in the new academic year has been submitted to the Education Department of the Municipality. This proposal is likely to be presented in the meeting of the education committee to be held on January 21 and it is likely to be approved, explained Sainath Durge, a member of the education committee of Yuvasena.
