According to media reports, the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) has written to Chief Ministers of all states and union territories to permit schools to resume partially from January 4, 2021, for classes X and XII.

This can further help the students before the practical examinations so that they can clear doubts which can prove to be extremely beneficial for the students as they would get to interact with their teachers first hand.

Moreover, the CISCE has stated that if schools are allowed to reopen, they would follow all the safety guidelines and SOPs prescribed by the government. In addition, it has asked the dates for the state elections to be held in the months of April-May from the Chief Election Commissioner of India so that it can decide on the ICSE board exam and ISC board examination 2021 dates.

Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, schools all across India, affiliated to CBSE, CISCE or state boards have been closed since the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown. However, despite the closure, schools have been teaching in online/offline blended mode for completion of the syllabus.

Meanwhile, CBSE board secretary Anurag Tripathi had earlier stated that the exact dates for the exams will be announced soon. In the past, on November 20, while speaking during a webinar on New Education Policy (NEP), Tripathi had said that the CBSE is making plans and will soon reveal how it will do test assessments and also later confirmed that there are no escaping the board examinations.
