The students appearing for the final-year examinations have been left confused as the circulars issued by the University of Mumbai within the last ten days have failed to mention if the question banks need to be shared with the students.

The online examinations for the summer 2020 batch are scheduled to begin in less than two weeks. Even though two circulars released by the University of Mumbai within the last ten days have mentioned the need for a comprehensive bank of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) for each cluster of colleges, it does not mention if this question bank needs to be shared with students leaving many confused and anxious. However, principals of prominent suburban colleges have stated that as the circular does not state the need to share the question bank, it will not be done.

Earlier on September 8, Mumbai University had issued a circular regarding the organization of the examinations. Examinations are to be conducted at the college level in a cluster system. This means that there will be one lead college and 6 to 7 schools in the area. In this one cluster, examinations will be held one at a time, as per the schedule. Question papers will also be cluster wise. Students will receive instructions from their college regarding the same.

This comes after the Supreme Court’s decision with regards to final-year examinations in which the apex court stated that the students cannot be promoted without giving exams and can seek an extension of the September-end deadline set by UGC to complete the process.
