Coronavirus Pandemic: MPSC announces dates for two of its postponed exams

As the state is now in complete lockdown, the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has postponed the exam dates of two major exams of the state i.e. MPSC State Service Exam 2020 and MPSC Subordinate Service Exam 2020.

The commission has announced the new dates for MPSC State Service and MPSC Subordinate Service 2020 on its official website. Earlier, MPSC State Service Prelims Exam was scheduled April 5, whereas MPSC Subordinate Exam was supposed to be held on May 3. 

The MPSC had invited applications for the recruitment of State Service Posts such as:

  • Assistant State Tax Commissioner
  • Deputy Chief Executive Officer
  • Assistant Commissioner/ Project Officer
  • Deputy Education Officer
  • Maharashtra Education Department, Class Officer
  • Deputy Superintendent, Land Record,
  • Deputy Superintendent, State Excise Fee,
  • Naib Tehsildar

The applications were invited from 28 February to 19 March.

The commission had also published the notification to fill 806 vacancies such as Police Sub Inspector (PSI) Group B, Assistant Section Officer (ASO) Group-B and State Tax Inspector (STI) Group-B under Subordinate Service Exam 2020.

MPSC declared that the MPSC State Service Prelims Exam will be held on April 26 whereas the MPSC Subordinate Service applications will be held on May 10. Candidates can keep a track on the MPSC Official Website, www.mpsc.gov.in for updates.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected Maharashtra the most with 89 individuals tested positive for the virus. To avoid further spread of the disease, Section 144 has been imposed in the state. The local trains, which are considered to be the lifeline of the city, have also been shut down for a week. 

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has asked the people to stay at home and only step out if necessary. As of now, Maharashtra is in a state of nearly complete lockdown with public transport only accessible to people working in essential services. 

Currently (as of March 23, 2020 - 12:00 PM) 89 cases in Maharashtra have tested positive. Here's the breakdown.

  • Mumbai: 38 (inc 2 Death)
  • Nagpur: 4
  • Yavatmal: 4
  • Kalyan: 4
  • Navi Mumbai: 4
  • Ahmednagar: 2
  • Panvel: 1
  • Thane: 1
  • Ulhasnagar: 1
  • Aurangabad: 1
  • Ratnagiri: 1
