Matunga’s Ramnarain Ruia College has topped the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) by getting an A+ grade in the latest council report published on October 30. The cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of Ruia College has increased from the earlier 3.65 to 3.70 in the fourth cycle.

In total, 452 colleges were assessed in the October phase, out of which, over 40 per cent belonged to Maharashtra.

For the first time, this year, several engineering colleges such as KJ Somaiya, Datta Meghe, Lokmanya Tilak College of Engineering, opted for NAAC accreditation.

We got autonomy when the peer team from NAAC visited the college. It was difficult for us as the parameters to evaluate autonomous colleges are more rigorous but we managed to get a good score,” Suhas Pednekar, Principal, Ruia College.

In Mumbai, apart from Ruia College, Vaze College of Mulund came second to get a NAAC rating in the fourth cycle and Mumbai University too got a NAAC rating for the fourth time.
