Governor appoints Dr Prashant Shridhar Bokare as the new vice chancellor Gondwana University

He has been appointed as Vice Chancellor for a term of 5 years as the post of the vice chancellor of the Gondwana University was lying vacant since the super – annuation of Vice Chancellor Dr Namdev Kalyankar on September 7, 2020

Maharashtra State Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, on December 8, 2021, in his capacity as Chancellor of State Universities, appointed Dr Prashant Shridhar Bokare as the new vice chancellor of Gadchiroli based Gondwana University  

Dr Prashant Bokare has been serving as the Professor and Dean of the School of Engineering at O P Jindal University, Raigarh, Chhattisrarh for the last 3 years. He has been appointed as Vice Chancellor for a term of 5 years as the post of the vice chancellor of the Gondwana University was lying vacant since the super – annuation of  Vice Chancellor Dr Namdev Kalyankar on September 7, 2020.  

Vice Chancellor of the Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University Professor Shrinivasa Varakhedi was officiating as the Vice Chancellor. Dr Prashant Bokare obtained his Degree in Civil Engineering from Sangli and then completed his ME from VRCE Nagpur. He finished his Ph.D from IIT Guwahati and has extensive experience of teaching and research. He has also served as the Professor and Dean at the BD Engineering College Sewagram, Wardha and further as Professor and Principal at the RSR Rungta College of Engineering and Technology.  

The Governor had constituted a Search Committee under the chairmanship of Justice Dilip Bhosle, retired Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court for the selection of the vice chancellor. Professor Himanshu Rai, Director IIM Indore and O P Gupta Principal Secretary, Government of Maharashtra were members of the Committee. 

The Governor announced the name of Dr Prashant Bokare after interviewing the candidates recommended by the Committee.
