Airbus, the aircraft maker, has joined hands with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Mumbai. It was revealed in a notification that an agreement had been signed. The collaboration will help professionals with industry-ready skills and aviation education through Airbus's "Airbus Beyond" initiatives.

The agreement was signed by Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director of Airbus India and South Asia, and Prof. Manoj K. Tiwari, Director of IIM Mumbai.

As part of the agreement, IIM Mumbai will offer short-term aviation courses. These courses are designed for both working professionals and those aspiring to join the field. The courses will cover areas such as digitalization, supply chain management, operations excellence, cargo handling, aviation logistics, and strategic procurement.

IIM Mumbai will be responsible for planning the courses. It will assist with student onboarding and provide infrastructural and logistical support. On the other hand, Airbus will co-curate long-term courses and certify their teachers at a later phase. For short-term courses, Airbus will provide trainers and training materials from the Airbus Beyond catalogue.

In a report by TOI, Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director of Airbus India and South Asia, was quoted as saying, "the engine that propels growth is skill. With our ongoing skill-building initiatives, we are committed to leveraging the potential of India's expanding aviation sector and bolstering the ecosystem. We are pooling our resources and experience through this relationship with IIM-Mumbai to develop programmes, which will contribute to the advancement of aerospace education and skill development in India going forward."

According to him, it will also contribute to building a robust talent pipeline that is prepared for the aviation industry in the nation.

The new Indian Institute of Management in Mumbai, earlier known as the National Institute of Industrial Engineering, is a premier management institute in India. On the other hand, Airbus is a global leader in aerospace.
