IIT-Bombay position slips in QS Asia Rankings; manages to be in Top 50

Despite being the top-ranked institute in the country, its position slipped in QS Asia University Rankings. Its overall performance has dipped.

The Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B) has made it to the list of top 50 of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings 2022 which was released on November 2, Tuesday evening. Apart from this, IIT-Delhi and Madras have also made their mark.

Despite being the top-ranked institute in the country, its position slipped in QS Asia University Rankings. Its overall performance has dipped. In 2021, it was on 37th rank, and now it has been placed at 42nd position.

The institute has secured an overall score of 71 out of 100. It secured 81.4, 96 in employer reputation, and 23 in citation per faculty in academic reputation. In faculty-student ratio, it scored 44.7, while they scored a complete 100 in staff with Ph.D. For papers per faculty, it scored 84.2, 78.5 international research network, and 11.0 in international faculty. In international students, they scored 4.4. Meanwhile, in inbound exchange 14.5 and 8.3 in outbound exchange. All of these scores are out of a maximum of 100 points. 

The university's performance is measured by considering different factors, such as academic reputation, international research work, outbound and inbound exchange, etc.

On the first position is The National University of Singapore retaining its last year spot. On the second position is Peking University, followed by  Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in third place.
