According to a data revealed by the QS World University Rankings 2025 on June 4, two Indian institutes from Mumbai and Delhi made it to the list of 150.
IIT Bombay has climbed from 149 last years to 118, up by 31 ranks. IIT Bombay held the top spot among Indian universities last year as well. University of Mumbai and Symbiosis International (Deemed University) also feature in the top 20.
Meanwhile, IIT Delhi is ranked on 150th this year improving its by 47 points compared to 197 in last year.
Featuring more than 1,500 universities spread across 105 higher education systems across the world, this year’s ranking is the biggest yet.
The only institute to see a drop in rankings from 454 in 2024 to 477 in 2025 is the Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore).

Other universities include Savitribai Phule Pune University, IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati, Anna University, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), IIT Varanasi.
Top 5 Universities Worldwide:
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has taken first place for the past 13 years among the world’s top 10.
Imperial College London ranks second.
Harvard University and Oxford University are ranked third and fourth, respectively.
Cambridge University has taken the fifth spot while Stanford University is ranked sixth.
