In recent developments, the Maharashtra education department is reportedly inviting suggestions from parents and several other stakeholders for amendments that are to be made to the fee act.

This comes after private schools were flooded with complaints with regards to the fees amidst the pandemic. On Tuesday, March 16, in a government resolution, the department stated that parents, activists and other stakeholders can send their suggestions and objections for proposed changes in the act on- https://www.research.net/r/feeregulation.

According to reports, the state government has formed an expert committee to suggest changes and revisions in the Maharashtra Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fee) Act, 2011. As per the government resolution, the committee will look into the suggestions that are sent by various stakeholders before giving its report.

On the other hand, students of Government Industrial Training Institutes are being given the benefit of reimbursement of training fees up to INR 28,800. Meanwhile, Nawab Malik, Minister for Skill Development, Employment and Entrepreneurship, has appealed to the students studying in the first and second years of the current academic year 2020-21 to apply online.

The training fee reimbursement is given to students who get admission in the seats available under the PPP scheme as well as the students who get admission online from the private ITIs for the courses under the craftsman training scheme. Students from families with less than INR 2.5 lakhs in annual income are to be reimbursed 100 per cent and students from families earning between INR 2.5 lakhs and INR 8 lakhs are reimbursed 80 per cent of the training fee.
