Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured strict action against those responsible for leaking competitive examination papers, saying the government will soon introduce a new law to prevent such incidents.
The assurance comes amid controversy surrounding the alleged leak of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) Drug Inspector examination paper. The police investigation into the case is currently underway, and several accused persons have reportedly been arrested.
Fadnavis said that those who play with the future of students will face stringent action. The proposed legislation is aimed at strengthening measures against examination paper leaks and ensuring greater security and transparency in the recruitment process.
The state government has also constituted a high-level committee to recommend reforms in the competitive examination system. The committee is expected to consult students, teachers and parents before suggesting changes to the existing examination process.
The issue has also triggered a political confrontation. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has criticised the MahaYuti government, alleging that the credibility and independence of institutions such as the MPSC are being undermined.
The government, however, has reiterated that it is taking steps to restore confidence in the examination system and ensure that competitive examinations are conducted in a transparent and secure manner.
