The wait of over two lakh students who have applied for vivid degree courses has finally come to an end as Mumbai University declared the first merit list on June 17, Monday. As per the revised schedule, the university had decided to release the first merit list on Monday evening at 5:00 pm.

Accordingly, the students whose grades fall within the cutoff list and want to claim their admission to the allotted colleges, can verify documents and pay fees between June 18 and June 20 to secure their admissions.

This year, the cutoff for the merit lists witnessed a sudden surge as the cutoffs for Bachelor of Arts (BA) had gone up to 93 per cent at Kishanchand Chellaram (KC) College as compared to 91 per cent last year. Bachelor in Mass Media (BMM) cutoffs also saw a spike of 3 per cent along with the Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) and self-financed courses that witnessed a minor raise. 

Further, the second merit list is scheduled to be released on June 20, whereas the third list is scheduled for June 24.

Prior to this, the results for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) were declared late last month, Mumbai University had decided to delay and revise its admission schedule, extending the date of online applications to June 15.

As per the officials, 2,62,128 students submitted their applications online, and MU has received 7,83,896 applications in all for its various degree courses.

Meanwhile, Commerce has once again managed to emerge as the most sought after stream with the majority of applications being made for the stream. The preference list was followed by Science and later the Arts stream.
