With the SSC (Class 10) and HSC (Class 12) board examinations approaching, the Thane City Traffic Police have made special arrangements to ensure that students reach their examination centres on time. Under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ashutosh Dumbare and Additional Commissioner Dr Gyaneshwar Chavan, the Traffic Department has introduced dedicated support facilities for examinees.
To assist students who may face delays due to traffic congestion, vehicle breakdowns, or other road-related issues on exam days, the Traffic Police have deployed 54 riders across the city. These riders will be on standby to provide immediate assistance to students in distress. In addition, helpline numbers have been issued for the Traffic Control Room, WhatsApp assistance, and all 18 traffic units. Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Pankaj Shirsat has appealed to students to contact the Traffic Police helpline if they encounter any difficulties while travelling to their examination centres.
The Maharashtra State Secondary School Certificate (SSC – Class 10) examinations will begin on February 10, while the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC – Class 12) examinations will commence on February 20. Within the Thane Police Commissionerate limits, there are a total of 126 examination centres for Class 12 students and 223 centres for Class 10 students spread across Zones 1 to 5.
To support students travelling to these examination centres, 54 riders have been deployed on city roads. Students or parents can seek assistance by contacting the Traffic Control helpline numbers 8286300300 and 8286400400, the Traffic Control WhatsApp number 7039003866, or the helpline numbers of the respective 18 traffic units. Additionally, three vehicles will remain stationed at the control room for emergency response.
Upon receiving information about any road-related problem during the examination period, traffic police personnel will immediately reach the spot, clear traffic obstructions, and help students reach their examination centres safely and on time. This special facility will be available only during the examination period.
Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Pankaj Shirsat has appealed to parents and citizens to cooperate with the Traffic Police during the examination period to ensure smooth implementation of this initiative.
