With the cases of coronavirus being on a rise across the state, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Education has specified that students need to abide by rules with regards to COVID-19.

The examinations for standard 10th is to start from April 29 and the examinations for standard 12th is to start from April 23. The oral examinations for standard 10th are to be held from 12-28 whereas the oral examinations for standard 12th are to happen between April 5-22. According to sources, the board is to announce instructions regarding the same in the next two days in view of the pandemic.

Moreover, official statements regarding the examination will be published by the board through the website as well as through the media.

On the other hand, the State Examination Planning Committee has reportedly been considering the recommendation to keep the pass criteria for standard 10th and 12th to 25 per cent.

Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus and the subsequent lockdown, classes were held for a very short period in the 2020-21 session due to which the committee has set up a planning department to decide the nature of the examinations that are to be held from April 23 to May 21 for the 12th standard and from April 29 to May 20 for the 10th standard.

According to sources, the committee is chaired by State Board President Dinkar Patil, Vasant Kalpande and other experts. Furthermore, Patil has clarified that since it is not possible to take online exams for 30 lakh students, board examinations for standard 10th and 12th will be held offline.
