According to the ‘Right to Education Act’, children between 6 and 14 have the right to free and compulsory education and that’s applicable all over India. But Shardashram Vidyamandir International High School in Dadar West, haven’t taken the law seriously.

In the last 15 days, the school barred kindergarten kids from entering school because parents refused to pay the fees which were hiked out of nowhere by the school. A written notice had been sent to parents letting them know that until and unless they pay the new sum, their children won’t be allowed to enter school.

The school is being too arrogant with us. They have told us that our children won’t be allowed to enter the school unless we pay the increased fee. Earlier, a meeting with Education Minister Vinod Tawde had been organised but none of the school representatives showed up. We called up the Children Helpline number but there was no response from them,” Amol Sawant, a troubled parent.

Political party MNS has intervened in this matter and are helping the parents out.
