The ongoing coronavirus crisis delayed several plans and schedules made by the Maharashtra government, and after several months, the education department had released the SSC and HSC Board examination results in July 2020. As per reports released recently, the government is now planning to conduct the re-examination in October 2020, for students who have failed the Standard 10 and 12 examinations.

As per the previous schedule, these examinations were expected to be held in July, however, parents of several students requested the board to consider a new date due to the pandemic, and took to the Supreme Court (SC) seeking a revised schedule.

The education board had changed the rules five years back and had decided to conduct re-examinations in July, and the results for the same were announced within a month to ensure that the students were admitted to the next grade in the same year. However, this year, the process has delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, where the examination results were announced later than usual.

As per reports, the board officials held a meeting on Thursday and prepared a tentative schedule for conducting the examination from October 6, 2020. The Divisional Boards have invited suggestions on this schedule until August 17, 2020, after which the official schedule will be announced by the board once the necessary procedures are completed post the revisions suggested.

Admissions for Standard 11 have not begun this year, and hence there is a confusion among the student community with regards to the same. Many students wonder if they will be given admission in this year if they pass the re-examinations. Officials are yet to decide regarding the same.
