The civic body of Mumbai, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) took to Twitter to inform the citizens of the recent updates with regards to the continual downpour in the city.

The BMC stated that the bridge from SV Road, Goregaon to Ram Mandir has been closed for traffic due to rupture of water line. It further requested citizens to not step out, except for essential work.

As a consequence of the incessant rainfall in the city, several streets and low-lying areas are waterlogged as of now. Moreover, many vehicles have broken down in the water, affecting the traffic movement. Mumbai's municipal commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal had earlier asked all the offices and establishments in the city, barring essential services, to be closed down today due to the downpour in the city.

MLA Vidya Thakur, keeping in view of the situation, has further appealed to the people to get out of the house only if there is a need, asking people to not venture out aimlessly unless it happens to be an essential work.

Moreover, Santacruz and Colaba have received the highest rainfall overnight and recorded 273.6 mm and 122.2 mm of rainfall, respectively.

The civic body had earlier informed the citizens of the waterlogging in the areas of Bhendi Bazar, Gol Temple, Nana Chowk, Mumbai Central Junction, Bawla Compound, J J Junction, Hindmata, Kala Chowky, Sarthi Bar and Worli Sea Face. Furthermore, in areas like Malad, Andheri, Khar and Dadar, the roads have been submerged due to the continual rain whereas the BEST has diverted traffic on several routes as a consequence.
