A dedicated website detailing Mumbai’s climate action plan will be unveiled by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday, August 27. Officials said that the website will be inaugurated by the State Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray

The website will allow Mumbaikars to offer their suggestions on the city’s current climate action plan. The site will also contain a wide range of information related to climate change, plans implemented by other cities, and what citizens can do to combat climate change.

Mumbai’s climate action plan is currently under preparation and is being developed with the World Resources Institute (WRI) India. The civic body said that the plan should be ready by October ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in November.

These efforts are a part of Mumbai’s pledge to the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group. The city officially joined the group in December last year. This group comes up with solutions to collectively combat climate change with a focus on slashing greenhouse gas emissions.

“The website will provide Mumbaikars the opportunity to give suggestions on the city’s first climate action plan. Some of the ideas will be included in the plan,” a senior BMC official said.
