Mumbaikars who have been waiting for the summer to end can finally rejoice as the much-awaited Southwest Monsoon is likely to hit Kerala on May 28, 2018, four days ahead of its normal onset date, confirmed private weather forecasting agency Skymet. Following to which, the monsoon will arrive in Mumbai.

Last year, Mumbaikars did face some days of trouble during the monsoon especially during the last week of August and some days in September. In the first few weeks of monsoon in July, the Santa Cruz observatory recorded 57 mm of rain, where Colaba and some selected parts of the city observed heavy showers recording up to 64 mm.

Keeping this year's monsoon in mind, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has released a list of neap tide days which will be witnessed on June 7, July 7, August 19 and 20, and September 17, 18 and 19. There is not much difference between low and high tides and the discharge of stormwater into the sea is very slow. Similarly, during high tide days, neap tide days can also lead to excessive flooding.
