Heavy rains have been lashing many parts of the state for the past two to three days, and Mumbai has also been experiencing continuous downpours since Monday.
According to the Meteorological Department, more heavy rain is expected in some parts of the Konkan region, including Mumbai, and in the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra over the next few hours.
Although Mumbai received heavy rainfall last week, the intensity had reduced afterward, with only light showers now and then. However, rain returned on Monday evening, and several areas experienced heavy showers around midnight, which continued into Tuesday morning.
Localities such as Dadar, Worli, Parel, Prabhadevi, Byculla, Thane, and Navi Mumbai saw particularly intense rainfall during the night. The Meteorological Department has warned that the rain in Mumbai is likely to intensify further, which could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas.
Along with Mumbai, the Ghat regions of Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra are also expected to witness heavier rainfall. Due to the forecast of poor visibility, strong winds, and heavy rains in these areas, travelers are advised to take precautions, especially when crossing Ghat sections.

Train services have been affected by the rains since midnight. Central Railway trains are delayed by 10 to 35 minutes, Western Railway trains by 3 to 5 minutes, and Harbour Line trains by 10 to 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, monsoon winds have spread across most parts of the country. By Sunday, they had reached Ladakh, parts of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and parts of Punjab.
The monsoon remained active in these areas on Monday. The Meteorological Department has predicted that in the next two to three days, monsoon winds will advance into western Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, the remaining parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Chandigarh, and parts of Rajasthan.
