The India Meteorological Department (IMD)'s Mumbai Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) forecast for Friday, July 7, says that city is "very likely" to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall across the city, suburbs and MMR. 

Owing to this, IMD has issued an orange alert for Palghar, Pune, Satara and Raigad districts for 2 days while a yellow alert in Mumbai and Thane for those 2 days.

In its five-day forecast, the department also predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall for tomorrow, Saturday, July 8. However, on Sunday and Monday (July 9 and 10), the rainfall is expected to be moderate.

According to the data, Santacruz observatory received 69.1 mm rainfall while Colaba observatory received 10 mm rainfall in 24 hours between 8 am on Wednesday, July 5 to 8 am on Thursday, July 6. With this the total rainfall for this month has reached to 357 mm.

On the other hand, a yellow alert has also been issued in Shindhudurg, Nasik, Kolhapur, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal districts of Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, in a major relief of sigh, the air quality is currently in the 'good' category in Mumbai with an AQI of 25, stated the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR).
