Mumbaikars have been experiencing a pleasant chill in the air since the last week. However, after recording a minimum temperature of 15 degrees Celsius on Christmas, Mumbai’s temperature is back to an average of 17 to 20 degrees Celsius.

On Wednesday, December 28, Mumbai’s regional meteorological department (RMC) at Santacruz recorded a minimum and maximum temperature of 17.2 degrees Celsius and 31.5 degree Celsius respectively.

Meanwhile, IMD’s Colaba observatory recorded a minimum and maximum temperature of 20.2 degrees Celsius and 29.2 degree Celsius.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city may experience a not-so-cold New Year's eve, as the minimum temperature is likely to go up to 21 degrees Celsius over the weekend.

As per the forecast made by the Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai, the maximum temperatures are going to increase gradually over the next few days. The rise in temperature is being attributed to the change in wind direction from northerly and north easterly winds to southerly and south easterly.

Meanwhile, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the city recorded an AQI of 283 at 9.50 am today, December 28.

The SAFAR dashboard showed Worli's AQI as 176 and BKC's AQI as 273. Borivali's AQI continued to stay in the 'moderate' category at 111. Mazagaon's AQI and Andheri's AQI slipped to the 'very poor' category at 328 and 329.
