Recently, an Aarey resident Satish Lot spotted a leopard and its two cubs while he was strolling in the area.

Aarey activists have struggled for over four years to get Aarey declared as a forest. They claim that area houses various species of flora and fauna, which can be found only in a forest. While the struggle between the activists and the authorities continue, residents of the area continue to spot various animals at the spot. Recently, an Aarey resident Satish Lot spotted a leopard and her two cubs while he was strolling in the area.

Lot claims that he always carries a camera and a torch along with him. He had spotted the cubs and leopard at 9:30 pm on Sunday, December 29. The leopard and one cub ran away after they saw him whereas the other cub stared back at the camera while Satish Lot clicked the picture. 

Notably, on October 3 when the Bombay High Court dismissed the cases advising it to be taken up at Supreme Court, the Joint Director, Wildlife, MOEFCC (Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change), Government of India, New Delhi wrote an urgent letter vide Speed Post directing Chief Wildlife Warden, Government of Maharashtra asking for a "Necessary action on the matter on destruction of Leopard's habitat and non-forest activities in Aarey Forest at the earliest"
