The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has received a significant fund from a major international bank. It has granted INR 1.50 crore in corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds to MBMC. The funds will be used for their QR code model. This model will speed up daily waste management in the area.

The MBMC started a pilot project last year. It then proved to be a success. Encouraged by this, the MBMC decided to implement the QR code model across the twin cities. In response to this, the bank responded positively to this proposal.

According to reports, the QR-based model is ready for replication. It will be used in all establishments across the twin- cities. The pilot project was a success. It led to a 90% increase in at-source segregation.

The project will cost INR 1.48 crore. This includes software, maintenance, skilled labour, QR printing, and public engagement. The project will cover more than 3 lakh properties.

Sanitary workers play a key role in this system. They record their comments by scanning the QR code at the front door. They check if garbage was separated at the source. Workers also take pictures of non-segregated trash and upload them to this software. This is part of a central government initiative.

Officials will monitor the software at the city headquarters. They will contact houses that do not comply. The system also includes geotagging and data collection. The system has a complaint module. Citizens can post complaints and requests on the app. They can track their progress and resolution in real-time.
