Every year, June 5 is celebrated as World Environment Day and several cleanliness campaigns are organised everywhere in Mumbai. Similarly, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) launched a cleanliness campaign. MMRDA organised the cleanliness campaign to plant trees at the Bandra Casting yard.

More than 100 people had participated in this cleanliness campaign organized by the MMRDA who planted one tree each at the Bandra Casting Yard.

“Everybody should plant a tree on the occasion of World Environmental Day. Because plants absorb oxygen by absorbing atmospheric carbon dioxide. As oxygen is essential to live, we decided to go ahead with this vital program. We planted more than one hundred trees on the occasion.” said Project Director, Vikas Tondwalkar.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority had organised a clean-up campaign on June 2, at Juhu Chowpatty in Santa Cruz and in other locations. At that time, hundreds of MMRDA employees cleared the area around the project and the areas around Juhu Chowpatty. MMRDA had organised programs like tree plantation, poster display, and puzzle solving for employees.
