Most of the districts and cities in Maharashtra has recorded temperatures above 40 degrees, excluding Mumbai, on Wednesday, April 27.

On the other hand, Mumbai on Thursday, April 28, witnessed maximum temperature at 37.2 degree Celsius at IMD’s Santacruz observatory and 34.2 degree Celsius at Colaba observatory. Whereas on Wednesday, April 27, it recorded 37.2 and 34.5 degree Celsius at both observatory respectively.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), Brahmpuri in Chandrapur district recorded a maximum temperature of 45.1 degrees Celsius which was the highest in Maharashtra during the day. Followed by Wardha that registered maximum temperature at 45 degrees Celsius, Akola and Nagpur - 44.8, Chandrapur - 44.6, Gondia - 43.8, Washim - 43.5, Gadchiroli - 42.6, Yavatmal - 44.2 and Buldhana - 41.8 degree Celsius.

Meanwhile, Pune’s maximum temperature was at 41.3 degree Celsius. With this, the city had recorded highest temperature this month. Whereas Solapur had 41.4 and Nashik was at 38.4 degree Celsius.

IMD Pune head scientist KS Hosalikar has predicted heatwave in some parts of Vidarbha for next five days and chance of thundershowers in some parts of south central Maharashtra and adjoining areas in next 48 hours.

Besides, IMD Nagpur stated the heat wave conditions are expected to continue for the next five days in Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, Brahmpuri and Akola districts.
