Mumbaikars woke up to pleasant morning with cloudy skies and light showers.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate rainfall for today, June 28 for Mumbai and its suburbs. In addition, the weather department has forecast, moderate to heavy rainfall for the next two days, that is, June 29 and June 30.
According to IMD official, K S Hosalikar, the Konkan belt and nearby regions have been experiencing very heavy rainfall while Mumbai and Thane have remained cloudy and can expect moderate rainfall.
From June 1, the Colaba observatory recorded the total rainfall of 296.8 mm, while the Santacruz observatory recorded a total rainfall of 230.4 mm.
On the other hand, in a welcoming news, for the second time this year, Mumbai recorded its lowest Air Quality Index (AQI) with an AQI of 13 on Monday, June 27. Whereas other cities like Delhi, Pune and Ahmedabad recorded an AQI of 49, 20 and 40 respectively.
Moreover, on Monday, June 28, the IMD’s regional meteorological department, Mumbai, in its weather forecast had recorded the maximum temperature in Santacruz observatory at 32.9°C, while the minimum temperature at 25.6°C. However, the relative humidity was 93 per cent.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperature in Colaba was 30°C, while the minimum temperature was 26°C with relative humidity at 90 per cent.
It is pertinent to note that in the last ten years, 2014 was the only year when the rainfall did not reach three digits in June and settled at 87.3 mm. After that, the lowest was in 2012 June wherein 298 mm of rain was recorded, reports stated.
