Mumbai records minimum temperature of 21.5°C

As per reports, Mumbai recorded a minimum temperature of 21.5 degrees Celsius as the air quality dipped across the city.

On Wednesday, February 24, Mumbai recorded a minimum temperature of 21.5 degrees Celsius which is 2.8 degrees above normal.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature for February is 18.2 degrees Celsius. Moreover, with the exception of the Vidharbha region, and Jalgaon and Solapur districts in Madhya Maharashtra, other districts across the state recorded above normal minimum temperature on Thursday, February 25.

On the other hand, the daytime temperature (maximum temperature) was four degrees above normal at 35.3 degrees Celsius. The mean maximum temperature for February is 31.3 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, according to reports, the air quality across Mumbai was ‘poor’ on Thursday, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 293. As per experts, the air quality will remain ‘poor’ due to input of polluted, dusty air for the next two days.

In the past, rain activity was observed in the interior parts of Maharashtra such as Akola, Amravati, Nagpur, and Wardha. On February 14, the minimum temperatures recorded in the city by the IMD Colaba and Santacruz observatories were 20.5C and 19.4C. Moreover, as the authorities predicted, rainfall activity resumed over parts of interior Maharashtra from February 16 for three days.

In addition, on February 15, the air quality in Mumbai improved to ‘moderate’ from the ‘very poor’ category. According to the System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the air quality index (AQI) of Mumbai was 159 and is predicted to remain in the moderate to the poor category for the next two days.
