Mumbaikars to see hotter days with rainfall between March 5-7

On March 2, Mumbai’s Santacruz observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 33.5 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees above normal. The minimum temperature also saw a spike at 21.6 degrees Celsius.

With winter season official getting over, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials have predicted that the daily maximum temperature during the first week of March is likely to go 4-5 degrees above normal.

For the first week, the average day temperature would range between 33 and 36 degrees Celsius, which would be around 3-5 degrees above the normal level. In interior parts of Maharashtra like Jalgaon and Nashik, the daily temperature may go up to 38 degrees.

Moreover, weather department stated that between March 5 and 7, there is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall taking place in isolated pockets of Mumbai along with areas like Raigad, Kolhapur, Vidarbha and Ahmednagar. These unseasonal rains are likely to bring warmer days across the city and state as well.

On March 2, Mumbai’s Santacruz observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 33.5 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees above normal. The minimum temperature also saw a spike at 21.6 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the Colaba observatory recorded the maximum and minimum temperature at 32.2 and 22.7 degrees Celsius respectively.

Besides, a day earlier, the Santacruz observatory on Wednesday, March 1 recorded a maximum temperature of 33.9 degree Celsius, which is two degrees above normal. The minimum temperature was 19.6 degrees Celsius.

However, as of now, the officials have ruled out the possibility of any heatwave affecting Mumbai or interior parts of Maharashtra since there is a possibility of the temperature again going down by one or two degrees after or around March 5.

It is pertinent to note that the city recorded 37.9 degrees Celsius on February 18, the hottest day of this year so far.
