To raise awareness about environmental protection and encourage eco-friendly activities, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) regularly organises tree plantation programs.
This year, World Environment Day on June 5 will be celebrated based on the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)'s theme: “Beat Plastic Pollution”.
On this important day, NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde has appealed to government and semi-government employees, private organisations, responsible citizens, traders, youth, students, social service organisations, women’s self-help groups, senior citizens, and all others to participate in tree plantation for a sustainable future.
If anyone or any group needs tree saplings for plantation, NMMC will provide them free of cost. Citizens are requested to contact the Garden Assistants at their respective ward offices to get the saplings.
