According to the latest reports, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a possibility of thunderstorms in the next two days in Mumbai. Earlier on Thursday, June 2, Mumbaikars witnessed partly cloudy weather for nearly the entire day.

Based on accounts, the IMD released a district-wise weather warning for the next five days in the state. IMD official K S Hosalikar was quoted in narratives elaborating on how there are considerable chances of rain along with thunderstorms in certain regions of Konkan, Marathwada and central Maharashtra. He reportedly added that Mumbai and its adjacent areas could experience light rainfall and thunderstorms in the next two days.

It has been reported that Hosalikar elucidated that at the same time, the IMD has also cautioned towards a possible heatwave for two to four days in certain areas of Vidarbha.

Narratives suggest that the IMD forecasted rainfall and thunderstorm amongst other warnings owing to the cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal at the mid-tropospheric levels.

Moreover, the conditions have also been attributed to the east-west and north-south trough formation from the cyclonic conditions from southeast Uttar Pradesh to Nagaland.

Predictions have been made that Mumbai rains will arrive by June 10, since the southwest monsoon set over Kerala three days ahead of time, on May 29.
