After a long wait, the rains finally made its way to Mumbai. The city has been recovering good rainfall since Thursday night all through the weekend. There were also reports of waterlogging and traffic snarls due to the rain from some parts of the city. However, in the coming days, the temperature is expected to rise a little and lead to sultry weather conditions.

According to the weather forecasting body Skymet, "The flooding rains, which lashed Mumbai and suburbs between July 3rd and 5th have taken a backseat. During the last 24 hours, Santacruz recorded 30 mm and Colaba 13 mm of rain. Many other areas also witnessed on and off rain with cloudy sky condition."

It further went on to note that in the days that follow the rain activity will decrease further, but light rain will continue with short breaks in between over Mumbai and suburbs. The temperature may increase after 24 hours, leading to somewhat sultry weather conditions.

Mahesh Palawat, Skymet shared that from July 8, there could be patchy spot rainfall in Mumbai and adjoining areas.

As per the estimate shared by Skymet the rain will pick up from July 11. In its daily forecasts, it mentions, "Rain activities are expected to increase once again by July 11th, but we do not expect heavy downpour during that time, but the rain intensity will increase marginally. Light to moderate intensity rains are possible in parts of Mumbai and suburbs leading to pleasant weather condition once again".

Skymet also did a complete comparison of rainfall received by Mumbai in the month of July over last 10 years. While the month has just started it has already recorded two days of more than 100mm of rainfall and another day for more than 200mm rainfall.

In the year 2018, there were six occasions when the city received more than 100mm of rainfall.
